This reminds me of a recent news story I read about Gateway.  Seems they
just recently reversed a policy where support personnel told customers that
if they installed any third-party software on their machines, then their
warranty was voided!  Can you imagine someone telling you this???  Seems the
practice was designed to cut down on the length of support calls.  Talk
about shooting yourself in the foot...
