I know that when Macromedia consulting was on site, they wanted to keep CF's
memory usage below 500MB even though we had 1-2GB real on our Solaris boxes.
He didn't say that there was any particular or known issue with the amount
of memory being used, just that he felt more comfortable keeping the memory
under control. Thus I'd say yes CF could handle 8GB in theory, but that in
practice Macromedia would suggest you keep it down to a reasonable amount.
Keep in mind that CF does not return memory to the OS once it has taken it
(at least for 4.5.1 on Solaris).

As far as template cache goes, he did suggest that we increase our template
cache size to 600MB since CF would treat that as a maximum and would only
use as much as it needs. I believe the entry is in K so we have it set to
600000 now.

Actually, I'm talking more about its memory footprint...like it we have 8GB
of RAM in the server, will CF be able to cache 8GB worth of templates.
That's a bit extreme, but I'm just curious if there are limitations.

Thanks.
