Kola,
Mashuri is absolutely correct and I would like to add to it. This phenomenon is
called non responsive server effect and 90% of the time this is cause code that runs a
long time. The likely culprits here would be a query or series of queries that run
an excessively long time, or the HTTP tag that does not have a TIMEOUT attribute set,
or a poorly written CFX custom tag, or just any code that takes an excessively long
time to run. Really any code that reacts with an outside service or technology
(outside of CF), can cause this and would be my first suspect.
One way to figure out which page it is, is to note the time the problem occurs, then
look at your web server logs to determine what pages were running at that time. Then
you can take these pages an investigate them to see if any of them might be the
culprit. We actually use a process of looking at the CF Server stats, looking at the
web server log to find the pages running at the time, creating load scripts with the
suspicious pages using microsofts free load test tool and run a test to see if we can
recreate the problem with specific pages. Then that helps narrow down the pages.
Good Luck,

I would suspect more on database retrieval than the coldfusion it self as
the problem check your odbc or any native database connection (are they
verified correctly) ?

By the way check the virtual memory I hope is not bloated
