One consideration here might be disk IO. Laptops typically have 4200 or
4600 k drives which are much slower that the generic 7200 or greater
drives founding most everyday computers.

You could try enabling the disk perf counters if you haven't by going to
the command window and type

Diskperf -y

This requires a reboot, but will allow to to observe what is going on
with the physical drives etc.

Subject: RE: Help with MS SQL

I need to ask the group for some help. For 2 years I have ran CF
enterprise
and recently CFMX on a Dell Inspiron 5000 with a 600 MHz processor and
256
MB of Ram. It ran just fine as a demo machine. I then installed CFMX on
my
HP Pavilion home machine, with a 1.1Ghz Proc and 128Mb of ram, once
again it
was decent for light development and a demo machine.

I just purchased a HP Laptop with a 1.8 Gig Processor and 512 MB Ram
running
XP Pro, and it is Dog Slow. It is only slow while executing SQL. I am
running the Macromedia Demo applications so it uses MS Access. I have
tried
everything, including changing performance options, and paging file
amounts
and everything I can think of. I am now throwing it our to the experts
here
on CF TALK.
