We've been experiencing a problem with a CFMX server for a while, where for
not totally known reasons, jrun will shoot up 100% cup and start eating up
memory until a service cycle is in order.

for the last 2 days though, I've been experiencing a situation where cfmail
will send 2 copies of each e-mail...

At first I thought the two were unconnected, but as I delved further it
became apparent that only 1 copy of the mail was being saved to the spool
and the mail server was definitely sending 2 e-mails.

Having ruled the mailserver out (as other cf servers use this mail server
with no problems), we looked at the machine and discovered that there were 2
instances of jrun running.

Could it be that each instance picked up on the mail being placed in the
spool and each one sent its own copy?

Its confusing us that 2 instances are running - when our other cfmx machines
only run 1 instance.

Random Theory: Could it be that the 100% cpu problem caused a new jrun
instance to start up and run concurrently?

any thoughts?

(I think the 100% cpu issue may be fixed in upcoming redsky (something to do
with schedules), but seeing as we don't know 100% what the problem is, we
can't be sure)

thanks in advance,

Rich
