If you've installed the Oracle 8 client, there should be an option to use
the Oracle drivers vs the Merant drivers when you set up your ODBC
connection in the Windows ODBC manager. See if you can connect either via
the Oracle drivers or the Microsoft for Oracle drivers. I've never been a
big fan of the Merant drivers (Nor the Microsoft ones).

Subject: Re:coldfusion5 connection to oracle8
I have a problem connecting a CF5 server to an Oracle8 database. In my
windows ODBC configuration, the connection can be made (Oracle8 client
is installed, with correct tnsnames.ora file). The datasource also
appears in the CF administrator page in the ODBC datasources list, but
fails to verify. When i try to load the coldfusion page that should
make use of that particular datasource: i get the following error message:
ODBC Error Code = IM003 (Specified driver could not be loaded)
Specified driver could not be loaded due to system error 126 (MERANT
3.70 ColdFusion OEM 32-BIT Oracle8).
The error occurred while processing an element with a general
identifier of (CFQUERY), occupying document position
This is the same error i got when the client software for oracle8 was
not yet installed. I have tried different setting in the CF5
Administrator page, but nothing seems to work. Anyone got an idea where
i am going wrong?
