What is the domain name that you are using to connect to the site.
I have seen issue some versions of IE will not access cookies from invalid
domain names.  The character that we were using for one of test servers had
a "_" underscore in the domain name.  IE would not accept the cookies from
this domain so session and client variables were not maintained.

As far a concerns of where the session data is stored CF server
stores the session data in memory so that should not be a problem.  The most
likely cause of your problem is a problem setting the cfide and cftoken
cookies.

    Hope this helps

Subject: Session variables dropped?

Problem: (CF 5) session variable (SV) is not persisting with a user's
session.
Details: CF server recently upgraded to XP and moved to a new domain. Most
users are still on the old domain with NT accounts, and SV works fine for
them.  For users who have been migrated to the new domain and XP, sessions
are apparantly not tracked. At the top of the page, <cfparam
name="session.myvar" default="0">, and last line of every page increments
the variable. The next page, the SV is again 0 until the incrementing at the
end, instead of the incremented value passed from the previous page. One of
the sys admins suggests CF needs to store the value in a place where users
on the new domain do not have rights.
