Sorry for my late reply here... Inside ColdFusion MX
(http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/0735713049/103-7175288-891906
0?v=glance) kind of comes to mind. I know there is a section on
Administering ColdFusion which I recall being pretty good, John Cummings
wrote that particular section and he is a Principal Support Engineer here at
MM. You'll probably find that some of the questions your admins are going to
have are documented in technotes and articles such as these:

Explanation of Simultaneous Requests:

timeout.htm
<http://www.macromedia.com/support/coldfusion/ts/documents/request_threadwai

Overview of new CFMAIL features in MX:

<http://www.macromedia.com/devnet/mx/coldfusion/articles/mail_61_03.html>

Performance References:
http://www.macromedia.com/devnet/mx/coldfusion/performance.html

And of course they should review the docs:

Hope that helps!

Subject: Re: A good book on ColdFusion MX administration?

I was keeping an eye on this thread because when our server admins
occasionally complain about administering CFMX things like sandboxing,
cfmail, Verity, java class managment, etc. From what I gather, the biggest
problems seem to be either:

1. Granularity of control in an Enterprise environment. For instance,
limiting java class access to trusted developers instead of it being all or
nothing.

2. Patches that are a) difficult to tell what they will affect; b) break
things that were previously working; c) get updated by MM with little to no
indication of what has changed.

But I'm not a server admin, so I don't know what the specifics of the
problems are and I was just watching to see if a good suggestion was made
that I could pass along.

Most administrative tasks aren't really CF-specific, so you might just
look
for a good book (or two) on administering web/application servers.
