Dave is correct.  You need to open the 1433 port in your firewall if you are
using the built in one from Microsoft.  Usually you will get prompted to
allow access or transmission over a port by the firewall utility.  You may
need to go add this port manually.

I suspect that the Windows Firewall is blocking connections to your SQL
Server port, which is TCP/1433 by default.
