Harry,

With SQL Server 7 you can place multiple INSERTs within a query. The maximum
pipe through ODBC is 65K, so you're entire query set has to be less then
that. With CF4.5.1, you can overwrite the default of 65K and set it higher,
but it's recommend that you set up 2 datasources-one for normally
connectivity, and one for sending packets larger then 65K.

Subject: multiple inserts in single query

Can I have multiple INSERT statements inside a single CFQUERY? What's the
maximum string size that ODBC can handle? If I wrap the CFQUERY inside a
CFTRANSACTION, will there be a performance penalty?
I'm running SQL Server 7 & ColdFusion 4. I'm working on speeding up a
massive file import. The sql is totally straightforward -- just a bunch of
INSERT...VALUES commands. But there could potentially be thousands of them.
Any advice?
