Laura, CF works a treat on a PC. It's not much use for a proper web
site, because it's not full-strength enough unless you're talking about a
small low-traffic site.

But for development, or a personal web site, it's magic. On my Win95 PC
was the first place I installed ColdFusion. That's when I realised the
ease with which I could develop things with it. Microsoft's PWS (make
sure you have PWS4.0 or later which comes with Win98) and the CF that
comes with studio are excellent partners, or you can spend the big bucks
and get the full-blown CF or the free CF Express.

I have my own personal information in a little intranet on my PC. It's
not REALLY required, but it suits me to be using CF to do my own things so
I can experiment with it.

IN my case, I installed PWS in about 5 minutes, letting it take all the
defaults, then installed CF in another 5 minutes, also letting it take all
the defaults, and that was it! Done!

Cheers,
