It is almost always a security thing. You didn't mention what database the
DSN connects to, so I'll assume either Access or MS SQL Server.

Not knowing what you tried, I can only suggest the obvious thinking maybe
you missed something.

I'm assuming that you're using CFADMIN to verify the database - did you use
CFADMIN to set up the DSN? If so, did you set a login/password for CF to use
when accessing the database? If so, make sure the login has the correct
permissions for the database (file permissions for access, db permissions of
sql servers). If not, make sure the login that the cf server uses has
correct permissions.

In 98% of the cases that verification failed on me, it was a security thing.
