OK - I won't reply to your message as to save productivity and bandwidth. *-)
Actually I've been amused that some folks thought that Frank would send that to the
list intentionally . . .
Granted, getting it in the first place is bad enough, but to be accused of passing it
on knowingly, well,
that's adding salt to the wound. . .

Subject: Email viruses, and why they work on plain text lists
List,
In the past two days we've seen two email viruses posted to this list.
Fortunately, since the list doesn't accept anything other than plain text
mail, no one has been infected directly from the list. HOWEVER, the virus
is STILL doing its job, to a degree.
The purpose of a virus, worm, trojan horse, etc is generally to cause
disruptions, reduce productivity, and otherwise be a pain in the ass. Well,
and I don't mean this in any sort of negative or critical way, I find the
subsequent 20-30 "<x> is a virus" messages annoying and disruptive.
Again, I'm not trying to take a negative attitude here, but is it really
necessary for EVERYONE to point out that "check this" or "ILOVEYOU" is a
virus? I would ask that in the interest of bandwidth and being nice to
Michael's servers we *ignore* these attempted viruses, for the most part. If
these appear again I would ask that everyone wait for a short while before
alerting the list about the virus, since in all likelihood someone else has
already done so.
Just a simple plea.
Regards,
