The worst part about it. I get to work generally before anyone else, I got
in a little late, but right around the same time as the majority of staff
(small office). I had two emails sitting in my inbox, I was working late the
night before midnight to 1AM so I only had say 4 messages in my inbox.

I saw the VBS ext, said hmmmm. virus. Did some thinking about reviewing our
virus protection in the office. Even had the book out, and considered,
here's the kicker, sending out an email stating be wary of strange
extensions and files. doc, xls etc. just because.

WELL ... something comes up and I have to run to downtown Winnipeg, a quick
40 minutes dash from the office. When I come back the receptionist is
apologizing to me. Grrrr. not her fault. nope. certainly not her fault.

BAM. a simple little note. :(

Are we really that lonely?

At the end of the day. I found a huge backup whole. <red-faced> But nothing
critical was lost. Nothing. Amazing. considering some real damage could have
been done.

I feel sorry for another guy I know though, a graphic designer, small
company of two, - he lost 8000 critical files. Youch!

I have first hand knowledge of 5. 2 in my office. oops make that 7, and 4, I
forgot about the file servers.

I heard on the news that it is estimated that 9 million computers were
infected in the first 12 hours of its release. Wow. Says a lot about
human nature.. everybody wants a love letter! (Happy99 and Melissa were
nowhere near as successful)
