Mostly because I then don't have to worry about where a template/page lives in the dir
structure (in terms of it specifying IMG sources and such). Also because I like to
create my development environment to precisely match the deployment env., and that
means separate roots. Lastly, I sometimes use URL's that have extra path info
(server.com/template.cfm/variables/go/here), and with URL's like this all
SRC/ACTION/HREF addresses need to be absolute or the browser gets confused. There are
probably some other reasons I can't think of at the moment, as well as some
detractions to this method :)
