\\ is part of the UNC networking naming convention. So if you got to a file
through a mapped share or Network Neighborhood, then you see the slashes.
For example, if I grab a file called file.cfm off of the share webfolder on
my server, webserver, then I'll see it as:
\\webserver\webfolder\file.cfm
