You might also want to check out Mastering ColdFusion 4.5. I was very happy
with Mastering ColdFusion 4. It doesn't has less detail that Forta's book,
but it has some good explanations. If you are just starting out Mastering
is extremely helpful because the explanations are more simple and things
like error checking are covered early. Forta's book is an excellent
reference guide and can help when you get stuck. It's more helpful for
people who don't need the simpler explanations in Mastering. (I sure needed
them for a few topics.)

Basically, the two books work like this:
Learn ColdFusion RIGHT NOW!!!! = Mastering ColdFusion
Learn ColdFusion really well = Forta's ColdFusion books (there are two.
make sure you get the right one)
