Actually, if you read the papers published by Allaire about Pharaoh (the
next "CF") it states that it will be an integration of CFML, JSP, Java
Servlets, and Java Beans. Additionally, at the most recent (and
incidentally, the first) Houston CFUG the guys from Allaire that spoke (a
marketing guy and a developer -- can't remember the names) reiterated that
Pharaoh will essentially be a combination of Cold Fusion and JRun. The
confusion probably lies in the fact that Pharaoh will actually end up being
pre-compiled Java byte code, as opposed to being compiled at run time.
However, you can still write the code in CFML, JSP, etc.
