I think:

CF always caches the pcode version of templates, and always runs the cached
version. If you have "trusted cache" unchecked, it will check the last
update time for each template's file before it runs it; if the version on
disk is newer, it loads the template from disk, "compiles it", and updates
the cache with the new version, which it then runs. If "trusted cache" is
on, it doesn't do the file time check, it just assumes that whatever it has
in cache is up to date. Obviously if it doesn't have the template in cache
(i.e., a new file) it still has to load from disk, compile, etc.

You do not have to restart CF, but you do have to hit the "Apply" button in
CF Admin..

Subject: Template Caching

Hi!
I was wondering something about Caching Settings....

On the Caching Settings page in CF Administrator, do you have to have the
Trusted Caching box checked in order to turn on Template Caching?

Is that right?

Also, do you have to restart the server to make that switch??
