When you tried to install CFMX did you select the Stand-Alone option? this
is important if you already have another version of CF already using IIS as
the web server.

Subject: Adventures in installing MX

Ok, so....I've installed the dev version of MX a few times on my
personal machines, and I just started to put it on a server here at
the office that had CF on it in the past. It looks like the machine
went from 4.0 to 4.5, apparently this machine never went to 5.
So I install MX, reboot. Nothing works. Jrun isn't installed, and in
IIS the old mappings for cfm files are still there as well as the
new ones, remove those old extensions...still doesn't work. Looks
  like reinstall time.
  Anybody have any thoughts?
