I've not had problems hiding rows ... not in IE anyway ... As a matter of fact, in my content management application I have a list page which uses this method to perform pagination instead of reloading the page on each view, in order to reduce hits to the server and improve response time to the user, and it works quite well... If you're interrested and you have the time, there's an evaluation download of the cm app on my site, you can take a look.
