Well paul, not sure of other encryption methods other than cfencrypt. You could do the encryption and then use cfregistry to write a key and give it the date of the first application load and then use it again to check the value in application.cfm and <cflocation> them to a sorry!!! expired!!! This of course depends on them having the cfregistry tag enabled.
