I would suggest using Flash MX and ColdFusion MX together and build a
rich client environment. The trick is to get POS input devices to send
data to the client's browser...it should be like a regular keyboard
however. But running over an intranet/extranet this application should
be very fast. Plus you could build a POS screen that when it idles it
shows pretty advertisements.

Sounds like a cool project.

Subject: ddevlopping a POS system using CF ??

we are to develop a Point Of Sale (POS) system and I was wondering if CF
can
be the right tool to do that.
There would be about 70 POS units pulling the data from the same
database
for inventory and accounting purposes.
Of course, this system has to be fast and the sale has to be done very
quickly (not like most of the e-commerce websites with shopping cart
etc...).

Has anyone developped such a system using CF?
Are there any reasons why I shouldn't use or could use CF?

Thanks

Benoit
