I've used Dreamweaver since version 1 and I love it. As a Mac user I would do all the design in Dreamweaver, then did all my CF code in BBEdit. Using CF Studio was a wonderful experience and was one of the main reasons I switched from Mac to Windows for site development.
Dreamweaver UltraDev and now MX have brought more and more CF coding ability into Dreamweaver, but I still absolutely have to use a code-oriented tool like Studio for many tasks. The entire purpose of Dreamweaver is WYSIWYG development. When you start to develop logic that effects the presentation, then Dreamweaver really begins to falter. In several cases I simply can't open my pages in DW without it rewriting code to ruination. Curiously I have pages that I CAN open in DW UltraDev 5 and it won't rewrite the code, but the instant I open it in DWMX it rewrites the code and makes the content on the page invisible (CFIF presentation logic gone awry). Yes it's slower. The way the caching works is great for link management but awful for fast CF development. For site management I like it on, but for coding I like it off. I can't have it both ways, so I use two tools. My feeling is that you use the right tool for the job and DWMX is a great WYSIWYG web editor and a lousy CF coding tool. CF Studio (HomeSite+) is still the best code editor for a CF dev.
