You can either use the site-wide error handler, which is specified in the
"Settings" page of the CF Administrator, or use the CFERROR tag in
Application.cfm. In either case, you'll need to create an error handler
page, which can show whatever you want to show - typically, you don't want
to actually show the error message; you'd show a "warm, fuzzy" error message
instead, within the look and feel of the rest of your site.

If you use CFERROR with the TYPE="REQUEST" attribute to point to the error
handler, your error handler page won't be able to contain any CFML tags or
functions - you'll only be able to reference the variables within the Error
scope.

This is a very incomplete description of error handling; there's a lot to
know about error handling. I'd recommend that you check out the CF
documentation on it. Or, if you're interested, it's covered in much greater
detail than this within the Macromedia "Advanced CF Development" course.
