In addition to the other responses, here's something else to consider:
are you running any firewalls? My setup isn't as sophisticated as yours,
I only run CF on my local Win98 development box (which has an always-on
cable connection to the Net) and then deploy my pages to a virtual host.
I recently installed ZoneAlarm2 personal firewall and discovered that if
I start the CF server while ZoneAlarm is running, the response time to
load CF templates is dog slow (I also run BlackIce Defender, but it
doesn't cause a slowdown problem). When I disabled ZoneAlarm, the
slowdown problem went away.
