If you use Flash MX and the Flash Communication Server, this is pretty much trivial. The FlashCom UI Components for Flash make this almost a drag' n'drop exercise and FlashCom itself is very easy to script. The bonus about taking this approach is the ease with which you can integrate it with a ColdFusion MX web site...
