At the risk of spoiling Matt's vacation, there apparently are people out there who consider Unix and Mac OS X as a viable server platform. %-0)>
I installed Sybase the other day (breeze) and have it running along with PointBase Embedded, PointBase Server, MySQL, PostgresSQL, OpenBase -- all interfaced with CFMX on the same box (800 MHz TiBook, 512Meg RAM, 40 Gig Hard Drive). Sybase has a neat feature -- it is Rendezvous enabled (ZeroConfig Network) so it can automatically recognize and connect to any database servers running on the LAN or over wireless. I am downloading Oracle, now & will post a note when I get it interfaced with CFMX. So, that will be 2 popular open-source dbs and 5 proprietary dbs that run on Mac OS X and OS X Serve -- as far as I can tell only 2 of the top 4 dbs (DB2 and SQL-Server ) are missing.
