Well, not seeing your system, my guess is that your ORACLE_HOME environment is set to the wrong location for using the native drivers on the W2K system. Can you connect to the database using SQL-Plus 8i version from the W2K server? If not, then once you resolve that you should be able to connect via CF. I ran into that once when I had both versions of Oracle client on my system.
Hard to say. Does your connection actually fail verification or is it just some features don't work?
