1. The list is for TECHNICAL talk about ColdFusion. There are a number of others lists besides personal email for non-technical talk. 2. An off topic post to the list should be described as OT. An OT post that turns into a debate will be asked to move. If an OT post is a single one or has few replies before dying off then there is no concern. Once an OT post gets past 10 or so posts, the list administrator will ask for it to move. If the thread continues on for another 10 or more posts, a second request will be made. If the thread gets to 50 or so posts that are OT, the administrator will tell post that the thread will be forcibly moved to another list. The thread will be banned from CF-Talk after that. There are threads that are not technical in nature in the archives that go on for well over 100 posts. This is not right. 3. If all you have to say to a post is "Me to", a joke, a snide remark or anything non-constructive, please make the remark on private email. This will help cut down on threads being seen as off topic. 4. No one will be banned or restricted in their posts except as mentioned about in item 2. In the history of the list, only 2 people have been banned. One was allowed back when he accepted the rules of the list in question (CF-Jobs) and another is still banned for defrauding members of the CF community. If anyone does not like any specific person, they can set up a filter to block their posts themselves. The HoF lists will not block an individual without extreme reasons. These rules are set to make sure that this list stays in the realm of technical talk. Please follow them.
