Not really. But I can say that there are a number of free java classes out there that will integrate into CFMX very well. Unfortunately these classes don't compare well to the 130+ file types that activePDF could handle.
I still think activePDF is the way to go. Just run a second server to PDF generation. It's probably a better idea to separate PDF generation from your application server NEway. Your application sever shouldn't have to wear too many hats.
