It is NOT a CMS tool. Well, not in the Spectra/CommonSpot type application
vain. It is as, Mike mentioned a sort of DWMX lite with a few extras bolted
on, such as Version Control (only to 99 versions). Is it aimed at the
muppet client who has not idea of the web etc and can easily start
Contribute, click Edit/Publish and have a page on a website.

NOTE : it can only edit FLAT HTML pages - it cannot edit/publish dynamic
data pages and indeed is only truly effective when used with DWMX Templates.

Subject: OT? Macromedia Contribute, is it Content Management or not?

Topic: Macromedia Contribute http://www.macromedia.com/desdev/contribute/

Poking around the site, it sure as heck looks like some sort of content
management system, but MACR seems to go to great pains to NOT us the
"Content Management" moniker. The Conspiracy Theorist in me (a small voice
who is constantly being repressed by the man, man) think that this is solely
so I can't get an upgrade from Spectra.

So, does anyone here know anything about it? Is it really content
management, or is it something that MACR is trying to define themselves?

Thanks

Pete
