I can relate... I remember at my last "permanent" job there was a web-form for submitting resumes in a textarea. They'd have put a 20pt blinking red notice ( with lots of exclamation points ) saying, no more than x number of characters and people would still copy and paste in roughly 10-20x the maximum number of characters.
