I'll update this in hopes that someone will have a clue. I've submitted
this to Macromedia for installation support, but so far they've not been
helpful or responsive. This is on an intranet. We've discovered that the
problem is related to the Integrated Windows Authentication. If we turn
that off, the administrator works. This is not a good work around, though,
because we don't want the users to have to enter their network username and
password.

Subject: Please help - cfmx administration problem

When I enter my administrators password, I get the following error from
CFIDE/administrator/enter.cfm:

500 You have attempted to dereference a scalar variable of type class
java.lang.String as a structure with members.

I installed cfmx and service pack 2, and I can't run the administrator due
to the error. If I run the browser on the computer that runs jrun, it works.
Also, if I run the administrator using the computer's IP address instead of
the server name, it works. But if I specify the server name in the url, i.e.
http://webcorp2/CFIDE/administrator/index.cfm, and I'm not on webcorp2, I
get this error every time. Why would CFMX care whether I'm using the IP
address or the name?
