It sounds to me (after reading the thread) that what you are trying to do is to use the CF syntax to write "real" applications (rather than web applications), but, IMHO, the CF syntax is simply not suited to that, it was designed to intermix with HTML. In effect you would be using a soft toy to hammer in a nail, sure the soft toy is nice and comfortable to hold but it's positively crappy when it comes to hammering in a nail. Languages are designed in general for certain purposes, CF is designed to handle web transactions by manipulating basic data and generating textual output (HTML), Java is designed for cross platform applications programming. By all means, develop this application, but if you are doing it to make money, you should research it very thoroughly, I just don't see writing applications in CFML being an advantage over languages specifically designed for that purpose. --- James Sleeman ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~| Archives: http://www.houseoffusion.com/cf_lists/index.cfm?forumid=4 Subscription: http://www.houseoffusion.com/cf_lists/index.cfm?method=subscribe&forumid=4 FAQ: http://www.thenetprofits.co.uk/coldfusion/faq Your ad could be here.
