And, for those of us that use the keyboard to select items in a drop-down, it would also be confusing. I'm used to typing "C" twice to get to Colorado in a state drop-down. A combo box would screw me up (where you'd type "CO" to get to Colorado). In the app where our developer was attempting a combo box, we were mimicing a Windows-interface somewhat, so it might not have been quite as much of an issue.
