ASP .NET is being heavily promoted by Microsoft, however, CF and ASP play
together quite nicely, and it is kind of a no-brainier that some operations run
quite a bit more efficient with CF than ASP, and of course there is the matter
of less lines of code in CF.

It will all come out in the wash, but one thing stands out - and that is that
each developer must become multi-skilled to keep up.

Looking at the broader picture, things are looking up for Web Development after
a couple of years of declining expenditures, and this is a good thing.

| Well great, but I see Asp.net creaping up and quickly too. As a product is
| seems to be more widely accepted and possibly will eclipse JSP/JAVA and
| others in a very short time. My question is while MM can dump more into
| marketing and hype the product, but what can the community do to help. It
| seems that every where I go , clients want to do in in ASP/ASP.Net, while CF
| gets less respect. It seems to me that CF is not as ubiquitous as
| ASP/ASP.Net. It would be nice to see CF get the press coverage more
| frequently .. Any ideas???

| Thanks, Howard! I'm glad you like what we've built here. I'd like to add
| that
| Michael works exceptionally hard on these lists, making sure they run fast
| and
| well. He deserves much of the credit.
|
| I'm happy to see some recognition in the news of what Macromedia has been
| doing.
| Macromedia has been working very hard lately to advance ColdFusion and to be
| more communicative with the developer community in general, and I'm sure it
| has
| helped. Thanks, Christian, for all the hard work you and others at
| Macromedia
| are doing!
