I've seen this problem on pages using CFCHART ... Loads quickly on Windows/Linux but dies out on Mac and even crashes IE. I'm thinking it has something to do with memory leaks from requests that take too long. When loading large pages Mac IE particularly is prone to spin or crash.
If you've got a URL I'd be happy to hit it with a few Mac browsers and let you know my results.
