I used to help out with a few radio stations in West Palm beach, they had music piped in sometimes, buy pretty much their systems played MP3 files as opposed to actually getting a CD.

The DJs have no control. I've heard that the three biggest radio stations in Connecticut are three computers sitting side by side in a room.
