Andy,

well, if the sc component is installed, you can start IIS mang in authoriing
mode (use a "/a" on the short cut), then go to "file->add snap-in". Look in
the list of available extensions and verify that the SMTP extension is
checked. If it's not listed you can still add it, but it escapes me how....
support.microsoft.com would help.

Another option - Go to the "computer management" console (in admin tools)
and check the snap-ins under services and applications - you may find your
missing piece there.

Andy,

Check again - SMTP service handles relaying mail. SMTP "virtual server" is
something different. Run Windows component setup and see if it's checked in
the list of components.

Seriously OT guys but would anyone know why, when I open up the MMC for IIS
Server I don't se the SMTP virtual service. I am supposed to see Default
FTP site, Default Website, and SMTP but instead I get Default FTP site,
Default Website, and IIS Administration (or sommat like that).

Before you say it - yes SMTP is installed - I can see it running as a
service and can telnet to it ok......
