Registering a web service in CFMX allows you to reference it with an alias,
or use a username and password without having to include them in your code.
You don't have to register web services in CFMX.

Registering a web service in DWMX lets you use Dreamweaver's tools to invoke
it and perform typechecking, etc. You don't have to register them in DWMX,
either, but I'd recommend it if you're going to use them and you also use
Dreamweaver.
