Cold Fusion does not support Unicode characters. I'm not sure if there's a
Chinese language version of CF or not, Allaire's site is not fully
functional.
>>3. I was told there are chinese character domain name and email address,
is that true? if yes, how do we search for such email addresses and domain
names?
No, that is false. The SMTP and DNS only support 7-bit ASCII characters, and
even a few of those are off-limits.

Subject: Chinese language
Dear advisors,
I am new to coldfusion, I need some helps to develop dynamic webpages using
cold fusion that supports tradisional chinese character, could anyone
please advise me on:
1. I understand that I can use unicode to store double byte charater, and
the backend databse would MS SQL 7.0, the data type used is ntext, nchar.
Do I need special code in CF to retrieve and save the information from the
form to the database?
2. Do I need to maintain a different set of DB to store data in Chinese
and English?
3. I was told there are chinese character domain name and email address,
is that true? if yes, how do we search for such email addresses and domain
names?
Please excuse me if you find the questions are too foolish, I am just too
fresh in this area. Your advises would be much much appreciated.
Thanks a million.
Regards,
Loo
