It does not cover application frameworks, only CFCs themselves. It does not assume any OO knowledge at all. In fact, it's a pretty darn good intro to the subject, since CFCs are OO-like rather than true OO, so Helms just covers the important concepts you'll have to learn in any OO language
It does not cover UML at all since that is a subject in itself. Other things of interest: there is a eWorkbook that goes along with it with which you can self-test your knowledge and work through a bunch of additional examples. Solutions to same are included of course.
