I hope I haven't come across as trying to trivialize the issue. It is certainly a problem, and I submitted a report to the web team as soon as I saw the first post. I then ran into the problem myself, and although downloading the updater to my workstation and then uploading it to my server is not the ideal solution (especially over a mediocre cable connection), I still wanted to offer it as a reasonable work-around. I don't need any more convincing that this is a problem, and I have done everything I can to make sure the issue is known and understood. I will post here if I hear anything else internally.
