That worked!
I reread the release notes (I had chosen the second option to modify
the server instance
jrun-web.xml file
I missed the part where you need to do this for the delault-ear (server
instance?).
So it is resolved!
As to the 17" vs the TiBook
-- They weigh about the same (17" a little heavier)
-- They are the same height opened (the 17" screen, while taller, sits
lower)
-- The 17 inch is about 2" longer and 1" wider (deeper), but slightly
thinner
-- The 17" doesn't have the trap-door (or anything else on the back)
-- The TiBook opens to 160 deg, the 17" to 130 deg
-- The 17" cable locations on the side are more accessible but the
cables are more
in the way
-- The 17" batteries are bigger & seem to charge faster and last longer
-- Access to memory, etc is under the battery so you don't flip the
keyboard
The light-sensitive backlit keyboard is really slick for when you are
in a darkened room or airplane.
But, the combo of the faster graphics, faster CPU, faster (167MHz) bus,
ddr nenory, and faster wireless is what really makes the difference.
The totality of these things makes it a different machine -- the larger
screen is a bonus.
Web pages load 2-5 times faster over wireless!
I didn't try the 1GHz Tibook, but, since only the CPU is faster, I
don't think it would approach the 17" in performance.
Last night, while managing the war, I sat in the living room with the
17" on my bare legs -- it was warm, but not as uncomfortable as the
TiBook.
If the TiBook is a Porsche, the 17" is a Ferrari or a Lamborghini
When I first got my TiBook, the first impression was that it oozed
class.
The 17" is almost as impressive, when compared to the TiBook.
I bought 2 extra batteries, 512 Gig RAM upgrade and an Airport Extreme
Base station at about the same price I paid for similar, but much
slower Tibook last June.
I was going to buy a 12" for my son-in-law ($1700) and trade in the
TiBook. They only offered $800 for the TiBook, so I chose to give that
to my son-in-law.
If you can get your hands on a 17" for about an hour & do some typical
tasks -- download & install CF & JRun & run some samples -- you'll sell
yourself.
Oh, BTW, I am Jazzed!
