NO Dave, thanks for your offer, its very generous. You are an amazingly
helpful fella. But it's not necessary.

This is a different box. It's a Win2K box - a production box in a shared
environment in a data centre in the USA. There, we have CFMX installed,
and we're trying to apply updater3 and that's not working.

The one you worked on all those hours, is now working fine. I had to
reformat and reinstall windows for other reasons (I changed the mother
board) and the end result of that (after a few false starts) is I have CFMX
working ok with IIs. I learned that you can't install CFMX on a WinXPPRo
system if it's got anything else installed on it. Not AntiVirus, not MS
Security patches, not anything. (at least that's the conclusion I'm drawing
from what happened in my case).

The system you worked on is my dev box. For now, it's working and I'm not
wanting to mess with it!

Thanks again Dave. I can't believe you are prepared to dip your fingers
into it all over again. You're a sucker for punishment!

Cheers,

Well, first, I'd recommend that you use Windows 2000 Server for your servers
(development and production) instead. I've installed CFMX on many, many
Win2K machines without any problems.

Second, there may be something odd about your machine's specific
configuration (hardware or software). I know that it's a real problem, since
I tried to fix it myself (and failed), but I've got to be honest - I've
never had that much trouble with any CFMX install but yours!

Third, if you want to give me another chance to try installing it remotely,
I'm game. I'd prefer to try on a machine that hasn't had it installed
already, but if that's not an option, that's ok.
