Personally I don't think it's bad to "expect" an application to install
easily - but I would never bet the farm on it.

CF (all versions, including MX) DOES install easily for the VAST
majority of people. But all applications are problems for some - for
whatever reason.

As an aside personally I consider it insanity NOT to try any new piece
of potentially production software on a dev/research first. In all
larger companies that I've been with this is a basic, fundamental
requirement. Any contractor/consultant that used me as a lab rat
wouldn't be continuing that contract. ;^)

Forgetting installation issues any new software in this vein
(application development) will have development compatibility issues:
tests to be done to check out existing codebases, changed or updated
language expectations, fixed bugs that no longer have to worked around,
etc.

Architectural software testing should never be initiated due to problem
reports: it should be a standard, immutable requirement.

'course that's just my opinion.
