Well how else was I to interpret it? For the last 36 hours I have been trying to get help for the Sysadmin at the datacentre I lease space from, it's 13,000 km away from here. It's not MY system, it's the one I use, and I'm trying to help them get THEIR problem fixed, because (a) I think I should and (b) the problem is affecting me and my clients.
Despite everything I say, I've had one person after another saying I shouldn't be using WinXP for production server (I'm not and never said I was) or that I should use Win2K on my dev environment instead (my dev server's working fine I'm not going to mess with it) or similar things. And now Tony says "well **I** managed to do it fine TEN times perfectly." Why would he say that if he didn't also mean to imply "... and there must be something wrong with you if you can't do it too." Not only that, he went on to say how any time he had a problem "...but you know what, I figure it out and fix it...". The implication being that I should have just figured it out too. And the implication follows that if I couldn't work it out I was a lesser person than he. It was a straight-out criticism of me for (a) having a problem and (b) not being able to work out the solution all by myself. Damn right I'm going to take offence at that. Tony was right out of order. Bryan you were very helpful back when I had my problems installing CFMX. **I** don't have the problems any more. I've said that now at least a DOZEN times. I am trying to help SOMEONE ELSE who does!!! And so, thank God, is Macromedia. Hands up anyone who would have thought not having enough colours on the server's display settings would have killed an installation?? Who's going to be brave enough to say they would have picked that? Tony Weeg? Huh? Whoa Mike...I think ya better calm down. I didn't get that kind of inference from Tony at all. He said "no offence" didn't he. He's just saying "sh!t happens and sometimes it's beyond your control". I'm not using XP but I can also say that I have yet to have a single install issue with MX (although I've seen alot of folks on this list that have). There are how many different settings on any given computer? how many apps that could be installed that could effect the install? Any 1 minor thing could potentially be the issue. Tony's not calling anyone stupid....neither am I...but I sure hate nasty people that slag others. It's only MOnday Mike...hang in there...lotsa days still to get through this week. Best of luck with your issues if you still have them. Wish I could help but I'm on Win2K Cheers Bryan Stevenson B.Comm.
