I don't know why it�s considered ridiculous but I do know that fusebox started this 
practice before ColdFusion introduced the "request" scope variable. The original 
fusebox was strongly tied to the cfmodule tag which then could only access variables 
in the attribute, client, session, and local scope.  And now with UDF's and 
Components, the role that cfmodule plays in the fusebox methodology should be 
rethought.
