Its been a while since I've done this but here are a couple of thoughts:
!) The cash drawer solenoid is triggered by small string of special
characters (the exact sequence depends on the particular drawer...
usually a register address, and a component address, with come
control characters).
2) The physical connection is similar to connecting a serial printer
via a serial port.
3) being a local device, a psuedo-printer, you cannot control it with
CF directly as it has no ability to talk to anything but your browser,
4) you might be able to code a Java applet to do the communicating
and communicate with the applet via CF.
5) the same technique can be used to control LED Advertising panels,
Multiple CRT displays (like used in an airport to dispaly flight
scgedules), those little modules that can turn off/on circuts,
lights, etc.
